B.C. residents urged prepare for 5th season: Wildfire season

Here's how B.C. is preparing for its 5th weather season: wildfire season

B.C. has unofficially added a new season to their calendar: wildfire season. Last year, three cities in the province had some of the worst air quality in the world and Metro Vancouver issued a record number of air quality warnings.

Now the team at Metro Vancouver is hoping to help residents prepare for the wildfire smoke earlier.

Francis Ries, the Senior Project Engineer with Metro Vancouver's Air Quality & Climate Change Division, is urging everyone to have a game plan in place sooner rather than later. He suggests equipping your home with a HEPA filter and if you do already have health concerns to talk with your doctor now because he fears once the smoke does hit, it will be harder to get appointments.

He also suggests checking out the Metro Vancouver website as this year they have added several resources to help Metro Vancouver residents prepare for wildfire smoke. For more details, be sure to watch the video that leads this article.
