Sunday, December 23, 2018, 3:50 PM - While winter weather advisories have dropped, officials are still cautioning to prepare for 'full winter driving conditions' on the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler.

Driving was treacherous on the highway Saturday night, as snow rapidly accumulated and left at least 25 cars in the ditch, according to the Squamish RCMP. Reports from local media said traffic was at a standstill as some drivers reported not moving for half an hour or more.

Snow was changing to rain through the afternoon on Sunday, but traffic camera views still showed snow-covered and track-bare roads on Highway 99 through the morning hours. Showers will linger through Sunday evening, but once precipitation tapers off roads should be mainly dry for Monday. Winter tires are mandatory on on the Sea to Sky Highway from October 1 to March 31.

Below are some of the images that emerged of what a caller to radio station CKNW called "a complete gong show" on the highway Saturday night.
