Windy conditions are expected.
When: Today and tonight.
Where: Vancouver Island, Metro Vancouver southwest and southern sections of the Sunshine Coast.
Remarks: Another fall storm is forecast to impact Vancouver Island and the B.C. south coast today. An area of low pressure off the Washington coast this morning is forecast to move northwards and approach Vancouver Island this afternoon.
Southeasterly winds will increase through the day today, with peak wind speeds expected for most areas this afternoon and evening. Strong winds will ease Friday night or early Saturday.
While this low is not as intense as the major storm that affected the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, and peak wind speeds are forecast to be generally lower, strong winds may still cause damage and disruptions, and slow down clean up efforts.
There is some uncertainty on the forecast depth and the track of the low. A track closer to or across Vancouver Island will result in stronger winds. Wind warnings may be issued.
-Strong winds may down trees or cause tree limbs to break.
-Be prepared for power outages.
-Travel delays are possible.
-Secure loose outdoor objects.
