Those without effective cooling and/or adequatehydration will be at the greatest risk.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An exceptionally dangerous situation isexpected to unfold over the next week as we enter a potentiallyhistoric and deadly heat event for inland areas. Several daysof temperatures well above normal will lead to compoundingeffects among people and infrastructure, with the possibility ofnumerous heat related fatalities. It cannot be stressed enoughthat while one day at these temperatures may be manageable forsome, an event of this scale, magnitude, and longevity willlikely rival anything we've seen in the last 18 years. Heat isthe number one weather related killer in the United States. Bythis weekend, it is VERY LIKELY that we add to that statistic ifpreparations are not taken seriously..
