ESFLOTAn approaching storm system will interact with a record moist andunseasonably warm air mass to bring the threat of locally very heavyrainfall tonight. While there are uncertainties exactly where, aswath of 2 to 5 inches of rain may fall within 3 to 6 hourssomewhere over northern Illinois tonight primarily along andnorthwest of Interstate 55.Despite the ongoing drought and resultant low stream flow and belowaverage soil moisture, rainfall in excess of 2 inches mayresult in flooding, particularly of low lying and flood proneareas.Very heavy rainfall and flooding are possible, but not yetcertain. Persons should closely monitor forecasts including thepossibility of flood watches, warnings, and advisories. Clear stormdrains and gutters of leaf debris to allow storm waters to drain.
